Fennel has very pleasant smell. It is native to the Mediterranean, but is now found throughout the world. Dried fennel seeds are often used in cooking as an anise-flavored spice. Fennel seeds are very common to be used as a natural mouth freshener.

Fennel seeds are used in variety of foods. It helps to digest food. In India and Pakistan, it also used as mouth freshener which taken after a meal.

Fennel seeds are most often taken as a tea also.
Fennel acts as an excellent digestive aid to relieve abdominal cramps, gas and bloating. If you expect to eat a vegetable that you have trouble digesting, like cabbage, try adding fennel seeds to your recipe.

It has medicinal properties and it also can be used for flavoring of natural toothpastes.

Fennel seed is also very rich in dietary fiber. 100 g seeds provide 39.8 g of fiber. Much of this fiber is insoluble fiber which helps increase bulk of the food by absorbing water throughout the digestive system and help easing constipation condition.
